With the Christmas adverts on TV and the decorated high streets, even the most reluctant of us have to admit that Christmas is not very far away at all. While many of you will be thinking about what food to buy for the festivities and what presents to get the kids, others will be looking forward to an excuse to party with their friends, family and colleagues. It is also an excuse to dress up and ‘glam up’ to look your best too.
Choosing new clothes can be relatively straightforward, but a quick look in the mirror may reveal things about us that we can’t improve quite as easily. In particular, we may notice that our teeth are not as white as we would like them to be and surely there weren’t quite as many facial wrinkles as there were this time last year!

There will almost certainly be a lot of laughter at parties around this time of the year, and that means showing off your teeth. This isn’t always great news for those who have discoloured or stained teeth. This can be caused through things that we eat and drink (red wine and tea being notable causes of discolouration) but can also be caused simply by getting older. During the ageing process, the enamel on our teeth becomes thinner and this then makes the darker dentin layer beneath it more visible, leaving them with an overall discoloured appearance.

The treatment itself is non-invasive and we will also discuss your aims before any treatment is administered. Some of our patients might wish to go for the whitest of whites possible, but others may prefer a more subtle improvement in the colour of their teeth. Following examination and impressions being taken of your teeth, ‘trays’ will be made which will fit comfortably but securely over your teeth. We will also provide the whitening gel which is put into the trays beforehand. You will then need to wear these whitening trays for a few hours a day. Improvements are likely to start to be noticeable about a week after the treatment starts, with the full benefits being seen after approximately three weeks.

The most effective way of easing out wrinkles and helping you to have younger looking and smoother skin is through anti skin wrinkle injections. These are made using a very fine needle and are injected just under the skin surface. There should be no significant discomfort when having these and all you should feel is just a small prick as the needle enters the skin. The anti wrinkle ingredients cause the muscles to start to relax and this then reduces the wrinkles or even eliminates them altogether. The results of this treatment are long lasting and should last for up to six months.
Also used for some wrinkle solutions, dermal fillers are better known for their success in providing volume where it has been lost through a reduction in collagen. While this is perhaps most commonly used to plump up thinning lips, it can also be used in other areas such as the cheekbones and the jawline.
