Are You Ready For A Summer Smile Makeover?

Give your smile a boost for the holiday months ahead!

Yesterday’s mini ‘heatwave’ will have given many of us a taste of what we hope is not too far away. It’s always nice to be able to put away the coats and get the summer clothes out. While more consistent heat might be a little way off still, it is a good time to start to plan any smile improvement treatments that you might be considering.

A ‘smile makeover’ isn’t just one treatment, though that may be all that is needed. It is a combination of treatments (where necessary) to maximise the potential of your smile. Whether your teeth are dull, crooked or even missing, the Blake Dental team is here to help you.

Let’s take a look at some of the treatments that are often used to give your smile a noticeable boost.

Teeth whitening

The most widely used cosmetic dental treatment is, without a doubt, a teeth whitening procedure. It is fast acting, non-invasive and affordable. No wonder then that so many people are making this part of their regular beauty regime (and yes, that includes men too!) At our Witham dental clinic we use the Enlighten teeth whitening treatment. This offers an excellent way of really whitening your teeth and giving you the smile that you have always hoped for. We are an accredited Enlighten practice and for those concerned about animal welfare, there is a bonus in the fact that the product is both vegan and cruelty free.

Most of all though, using Enlighten can really give you a truly attractive white smile for the summer months and the social occasions that often go with it.

Veneers and crowns

For anyone who thinks that their teeth are too badly stained or have other damage such as small chips or cracks in them, all is not lost. For patients such as these, we may suggest that you have porcelain dental veneers fitted to replace the damaged or badly stained tooth enamel. This does require an invasive procedure but is a highly successful way of producing attractive teeth which you probably thought was no longer possible. Where damage is more significant or where shape is affecting the appearance of your teeth, dental crowns are also a possibility.

Crooked teeth

Straightening teeth can be a lengthy job. It is important that too much pressure is not applied to the teeth in order to prevent any damage. This means that where significant correction is needed, treatment can take a year or more. Those who are concerned purely about the way their teeth look can have fast acting orthodontic treatment to correct slight crookedness or overlapping teeth of the visible ones when you smile. The time taken will vary but taking action soon will hopefully mean that you will have a ‘summer ready smile’ by the time it arrives.

Composite bonding

For those seeking a quick and non-invasive solution to minor issues that spoil a smile, cosmetic bonding may be the answer. Naturally, we will need to examine your teeth and discuss your aims with you before deciding, but composite bonding can be successfully used for issues such as where there are small chips missing from the teeth, closing some gaps, improving tooth shape and even improving the colour. An initial consultation with our cosmetic dentist is the first place to start for any smile improvements you might be hoping for.

Dental implants

Although this is sometimes not considered to be a treatment used in a smile makeover, it offers a great solution for anyone who has missing teeth or who wears dentures. While dentures often offer an acceptable appearance, many wearers will know that they can be unpredictable and move around, often when you really don’t want them to. Dental implants offer a much more secure and stable option. Why not discuss this with us if you are not satisfied with your dentures?

Facial aesthetics

Finally, having made the decision to improve your smile for summer, you might want to consider having facial aesthetic treatments too. Our wrinkle reduction and dermal fillers can help to give you a younger appearance. Our skilled facial aesthetic clinicians will be happy to discuss this with you.

Perhaps we are being a little optimistic about the summer but it certainly pays to think in advance when it comes to cosmetic dentistry. If you have a particular aesthetic issue you want improving or would like further advice, why not call Blake Dental today on 01376 501688.
